How do you live your life?? What and how do you define yourself?? These questions just keep popping into my head..I think God is trying to tell me something and keep me straight in my heart and mind.. I have always tried to live my life the best I can and live every day like it might just be my last.. I try not to get caught up in the demands that society puts on us.. I was watching Oprah yesterday(I usually do not do this), the show caught my attention.. She is talking about living the Best life.. Well, yesterday on her show she had a family that had lost a son to a motorcycle accident.. What really struck me more than anything was this... The Family had lots of material things and lots of money with really GREAT jobs.. After they lost their son, they decided to get rid of everything.. the trinkets, the HUGE house, the cars, the furniture...and live out of their minivan and just travel the world..
As I listened to them talk, They said one thing that stuck to me.. Do you let your things, house, cars, trinkets, furniture, Define you or do you define you?
Is your heart good and filled with the very best or do you have the need to let "things" define what kind of person you are...
I really believe that this world would be a much better and happier place if people would just let go and let God lead their lives and live for the day.. Not for what they have......................
So this is my question:
What defines you???

I often think the same thing. I see so many in the generation behind me that don't appreciate all that they have. They constantly dwell on what they don't have. I am so thankful to God for my family, my health, my job, my friends, but most of all of my God! I probably could live in a bigger house. But I love our simple little life. Even though we live in a little, 1940's farmhouse, that isn't the nicest in the world, what we have and what we appreciate is the smallness that we are and the greatness that is God. Hope that makes sense. I can walk out on my front porch, look at the stars or the sky and think "Wow.....Thank you Lord for painting this sky just for me...." Can't do that in a big, fancy house in the city! Keep chugging away Sheri. You're a good egg with a servants heart....we are very blessed to know you and your family and to have you in our lives.
ReplyDeleteYou are right on Kristy... I am so glad that our Families have gotten to know each other... It was in the plan for us to come together.. I really think our lives ( Dwayne and mine) has come down the path that it has, so that we could be an inspiration in Lorelai's life as well as her in ours!! And of course the rest of the family :) We are truely blessed to have yall!!
